Travelogue: Cornwall, England
“Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again.”
It was my good fortune to travel to Cornwall, England and half the trip was booked in the town of Fowey. Unbeknownst to me beforehand, this happens to be Daphne du Maurier country.
As we ventured about, it dawned on me that I was basically following in Daphne’s footsteps. She was a big outdoorswoman and romped around all the fields, woods and coastline in the area. I did the same and generally fangirled all over the place.
As a writer who dabbles in gothic fiction, it was an incredible experience to be in Cornwall and understand directly why du Maurier was inspired by it. Along with the photographs, I have stored up a ton of inspiration from this life changing adventure.
