Book Launch Party!
This was how it started… with a story about a blue bottle.
I had a pretty amazing and wonderful Friday night recently at Backwater Books in Old Ellicott City, Maryland, at the book launch release party for Bottled Secrets of Rosewood. It was all kinds of awesome filled with so much hometown love.
The set up: A walk into a historic downtown district in small town America on a perfect summer night to the historic building that houses a beautifully designed bookstore, the venue for my historically inspired, new release. It really doesn’t get more mood setting than that for a book launch.
My behind-the-scenes roadies/stagecrew (djimmy and @lavin.nigel) had me covered for sound, filming, and an ever magically appearing craft brew in hand. Full props to them.
Matt and Alli at Backwater Books graciously collaborated with me to make it all happen and provide the most perfect place to hold the event. They are doing great things and I can’t thank them enough.
The warm and vibrant crowd brought their energy and support and it was frankly humbling. The space was filled with friends from past and present, family and new friends! They especially provided questions during the Q&A for a thought-provoking discussion. Grateful for all of it.
A high note: during the Q&A, an attendee asked a spot-on question about witch bottles (the pivotal piece in the story). Are they meant to hurt or harm those who receive them? The answer is that… it depends and research is vague. But I thanked her for that question because that circles around the basic dilemma in the novel. Right after that, a raffle winner was picked. That attendee won the raffle-—which just so happened to be a witch bottle for the bearer’s protection. Serendipity.
"Small-town suspicion, hidden family histories, unscrupulous characters, found families…it all comes together in this story that leaves you hooked from start to finish." Goodreads. 4.5 stars
